Information only, not legal advice
Information provided on this website is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. The information should not be relied upon as a substitute for obtaining legal advice concerning your particular circumstances.
The law changes often, and articles and guides on this website may not reflect the current law or government policy. Each one shows the date it was published.
No solicitor-client relationship
Accessing this website, submitting an inquiry or communicating with our office through this website does not automatically establish a solicitor-client relationship. A solicitor-client relationship is established only after the firm has completed its necessary conflict checks and formally agreed to act on your behalf. We confirm in writing when we agree to act for you, usually in an engagement letter.
Confidential information
Please do not submit confidential, sensitive or time-critical information through this website or by email until a solicitor-client relationship has been formally established. Information submitted through this website may not be protected by solicitor-client privilege.
Submitting an enquiry does not prevent us from acting for another person in the same or a related matter, including someone whose interests are opposed to yours, if we have not agreed to act for you.
Deadlines
Do not delay taking action, or miss a deadline, while you wait to hear from us. Until we confirm that we act for you, you remain responsible for any deadline in your matter. If your matter is urgent, call us at +1 905 965 2448.
Client reviews
Past results are not necessarily indicative of future results. Each legal matter is unique, and outcomes depend on the specific facts and circumstances of each case.
The client portal and electronic signatures
- The client portal is for clients we act for, and for people they have authorized us to share their matter with. Use it only for your own matter.
- Sign-in and signing links are sent to your email address and are personal to you. Do not forward them. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used them.
- When we ask you to sign a document electronically and you type your name and confirm, you agree that this is your signature and has the same effect as signing on paper. You may ask to sign on paper instead. Some documents, such as wills, powers of attorney and land transfer documents, cannot be signed this way.
- We may suspend or end portal access, for example when your matter ends or to protect your information.

This does not limit our professional obligations to clients we act for.
